- Make sure that the plug is connected to a working outlet. Press and hold the power button on the corner of the plug for a full 15 seconds. This process will reset the plug. You should see the following while holding the button:
- The LED indicator will flash Red/Green.
- The LED indicator will turn off briefly.
- The LED indicator will quickly flash Green. Release the button at this point.
Go to Settings > iCloud on your iOS Device (iPhone/iPad). Turn ON your iCloud Drive and Keychain.
Reset your iOS device (iPhone/iPad). Press and hold the Sleep/Wake/Power button and the Home button located at the front bottom of your iOS device (If iPhone 7: Volume (–) button and the Home button). Keep holding both buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears on the screen. It will take about a minute for the iOS device to complete the reset process.
If you have a Dual Band Router make sure your device (iPhone/iPad) is connected to a 2.4 GHz, Wi-Fi Network. The SmartPlug is not compatible with 5.0 Ghz Wi-Fi Networks or enterprise networks such as in college dorms and businesses.
Go to your iOS Device (iPhone/iPad).
- Tap “SETTINGS.”
- Choose the “Wi-Fi Network” you want to use for your SmartPlug.
- Scroll Down and Tap on the "iHOME SMARTPLUG xxxxxx."
- Tap "NEXT" on the top right.
- Tap "DONE" when the accessory has joined your chosen network.
- Open the “iHome Control App.”
- Select “ADD DEVICE.” Make sure the plug is connected to an outlet.
- Tap “NEXT” to search for the device.
- Select “iHOME SMARTPLUG-xxxxxx” and Tap “CONTINUE.”
- You will see a popup message (Add Accessory to Network), Tap “ALLOW” – to set up Device.
- Enter the accessory code manually or use your device’s camera to read the accessory code on the plug (DO NOT disconnect the SmartPlug).
- Select how you will be using the plug (i.e Light, Fan, Other, etc.) and Tap “NEXT.”
- Name the plug (i.e. Reading Lamp) and Tap “Next.”
- Tap “SKIP” or you can “Assign to a room” (i.e. Living Room).
*IF NECESSARY: *NOTE: If the issue persists, delete the Home you initially created in the “iHome Control App” and in the “Apple Home App” if applicable.
- To delete a Home in the “iHome Control App.”
- Open the green “iHome Control App.”
- Tap the name of the Home you created at the top of the screen.
- Tap “Edit” at the top right corner.
- Scroll down and tap “Delete Home.”
- To delete a Home in the “Apple Home App.” (If Applicable)
- Open the orange “Apple Home App.”
- Tap Edit.
- Tap the name of the Home you created.
- Scroll down and Tap “Remove Home.”
- Start the initial setup process again.
